Milk froth temperature depends on the quantity and temperature of the milk used. As there is no temperature sensor we recommend to use a minimum of 80 ml of milk. The more milk you use, the colder the in-cup result will be.

The main difference is milk froth system. Nespresso Atelier is equipped with a milk frother. Pour the milk directly in your cup and froth the milk directly in your cup. Compared to milk jug (Lattissima) :

1. Possibility to make various recipes. Not only the direct access 9 recipes, but also user can create own recipes, for example, with cream you can make whipped cream to make café viennois. With ice cream, cream and milk, it is possible to make make an ice cream coffee frappé.
2. No milk waste (= pour only necessary quantity of milk in your cup)
3. Possibility to change the type of milk every cup (soy milk, etc)
4. Very easy cleaning. Just remove the milk frother and clean it (dishwasher safe).

"Atelier" means workshop / studio in French. We believe this name suits it well as it is a hands on machine that allows you to craft an infinite array of recipes whether hot or cold.

Do not use any strong cleaning agents or solvent cleaners. Use a damp cloth and mild cleaning agent to clean the surface of the machine.

The milk frother and capsule container can be washed in the dishwasher.

According to your consumption profile as well as the water hardness you have set in the machine (please refer to “water hardness setting” section in the user manual), the machine will trigger a descaling alert visible on the top of the machine. To optimise descaling intervals and keep a machine well serviced for optimal in cup quality, we highly recommend setting the machine with the water hardness you have at your place.

If your consumption profile is made mostly of milk-based beverages, then the descaling alert will come earlier than if you do only coffee.

Use refrigerated UHT or pasteurized skimmed or semi-skimmed milk.

Use the Nespresso VIEW mug that comes with the machine and respect well the milk quantity advised on the recipe leaflet.

Yes, thanks to its innovative in-cup frothing technology, you can use soy, oat or almond drinks instead of milk for your milk-based beverages. The in-cup result will depend on the composition of the chosen alternative drink.

We recommend the following composition in order to get a nice froth:

1. Protein: > 0.5 g / 100 ml
2. Carbohydrate: < 5.5 g / 100 ml

Yes but you need to follow these 4 rules in order to ensure the recipe quality and prevent overflow during the preparation:

1. Your cup must not be flared out
2. Your cup must be at least 7 cm in diameter
3. Always use a minimum of 80 ml of milk
4. The quantity of milk must never fill more than half of your cup

The machine cannot be switched off manually. You may however change the default auto off setting.
